How Shimmy Shakedown began...

Irene Alba is the Producer and Artistic Director of Shimmy Shakedown.  It all began by supporting her daughter, Jizzelle Alexis (co-producer), in her dance career and wanting to support other professional, dance artists from Los Angeles and around the world.  Irene and Jizzelle wanted to give opportunity to dancers who deserve to be recognized for their passion and dedication to their art form, Oriental Dance. Shimmy Shakedown began in 2012 to demonstrate the importance of Oriental Dance and to show the art and the beauty of the culture. 

Shimmy Shakedown grew by supporting dancers from the U.S.A and dancers from all over the world!  Irene truly loves, admires and supports dancers and musicians that have the passion and dedicate to always wanting to learn more!  This is why Shimmy Shakedown began hosting workshops, aside from our amazing gala show over the years.  We knew dancers in California deserve to be trained by the best and hard-working artists from the U.S. and around-the-world, and we wanted to bring that to you!

We would like to thank everyone who continues to support Shimmy Shakedown and attends our event every year!  Shimmy Shakedown keeps getting bigger and better each year and we thank all of you for your support and love.  Without all of you, Shimmy Shakedown Festival would not have been possible. Thank you!
